Registration & Assessments Registration of Interest for all Swimmers What is a Registration of Interest?
● An expression of interest Only, this does not mean the registering swimmer/s have a definite place within Golden Bay Swimming Inc.
● All swimmers will be assessed to gauge their current swimming ability and coaches will decide which level they will swim for 2025/2026 season.
● Returning Orcas and Marlins season will commence on the 6th October with no assessment.
Re Registering Members
● All returning members are to register their Interest each swimming season.
● Each returning member must register in the Swim Level they were in at the end of last swim season.
All swimmers (except Marlin and Orcas) will be assessment on either the Monday 6th OR Tuesday 7th October. You choose which date best suits you and turn up at least 15 minutes before the appropriate time:
3.30 - 3.55 pm New to Club
4.00 - 4.25 pm Eels
4.30 - 4.55 pm Dolphins
5.00 - 5.30 pm Snappers
If you are unable to make either of these dates, swimmers will be placed in the level they were last year, and the coaches will assess in their class.
New Members to the Club
● All new members are to register their Interest.
● When registering for Group - Select New to club
● On the summary page in the comments section please add any details about the ability and previous swimming experience to help coaches with assessments
● Swimmers will need to attend an assessment on either the 6th or 7th October at 3.30 pm - 3.55 pm. Where coaches will assess the swimmer and place them in an appropriate group.
Are Swimming Spaces Limited?
● Yes, therefore Golden Bay Swimming Inc. exercises 'first in first served' due to these limited spaces. Prior to Swim Assessment
● Before hitting the pool and assessments we ask that parents/caregivers and your swimmer all please read the 'Swimmers Code of Conduct' with your Swimmer and the 'Parent/Caregiver Code of Conduct'
● Both the Swimmer and Parent/Caregiver must sign on the assessment day that they fully understand the respective codes, as it is a requirement to be a Golden Bay Swimming Inc. Member.
● Upon arrival for the Swim Assessment, your Swimmer/s will be given a FREE swim cap.
● SWIM CAPS MUST BE WORN during the Swim Assessment and during ALL Swim Lessons throughout the Golden Bay Swimming Inc. Swimming Season for safety reasons.
Swim Assessment - What to expect
● All Golden Bay Swimming Inc. Swim Assessments are conducted and completed in Te Waka Kura o Mōhua Pool.
● Upon entry into the pool area, swimmers are to go pool side and warm up ready to enter the pool.
● Once in the pool and before their Swim Assessment takes place, the swimmer/s can do a mini swim warm up.
● Once the swimmer/s have completed their Swim Assessment, they are to exit the pool straight away.
● The parent/caregiver will be emailed the swimmer's swim level, day and time.
● If your swimmer/s do not meet the Golden Bay Swimming Inc. Entry Eel level of swimming, recommendations will be suggested for the swimmer/s to attend Swim Mōhua Swim School or the likes.
Waitlist
● If a particular swim level is at maximum capacity i.e. the level is full therefore no more swimmers can be placed in that level at that time, the swimmer will be placed on the Golden Bay Swimming wait list.
● When a place within the appropriate level becomes available, the coach of that level and group will inform the Golden Bay Swimming Inc. Coach Coordinator and Secretary and will make contact.
● The invoice will need to be paid in full prior to commencing classes for the season. Invoices
