About Us

Golden Bay Swimming club is a non-profit organisation run by a passionate team of volunteer coaches and committee. Their generousity allows us to keep lessons affordable for Golden Bay families.

All profits and funds raised go towards expenditures such as the pool lease, admin costs, coach training, swimming equipment, swim events, and occassionally much needed big-ticket items such as lane ropes, pool covers, and more.

We teach children between the ages of 8 and 18 after school at the open-air 33 yard lane Te Waka Kura o Mōhua / Golden Bay High School pool in Takaka.

Unfortunately, Golden Bay doesn't have a public indoor lane pool, so we run our lessons at the high school pool for up to 16 weeks during the warmer months in Terms 4 and 1.

To ensure children improve their technique in good time, club swimmers are advised to attend lessons at least twice a week. Squad programs are also available for senior swimmers who want to build stamina or to train to a competitive standard.
