Registration of Interest to Enrol for the 2020-2021 Season

Great news! Our desperate call for new coaches has been answered with five new volunteers joining the coaching team this season. Wow!

This means we are pleased (and very relieved) to cordially invite you to register your interest to enrol your child/children for another fun season of swimming lessons this summer (lockdown levels permitting).

Hurry, though, as places are limited. Read below for enrolment details and please share this newsletter with others who may be interested in registering their children this season.

Lesson programme
Golden Bay Swimming Club is a not-for-profit organisation run by an awesome team of volunteer coaches and committee; whose generosity allows us to keep lessons affordable for Golden Bay families. All fees and grants we apply for go towards covering admin costs, coach training, swimming equipment, swim events, and pool hire costs.

We use the open-air lane pool at Golden Bay High School, and our lessons run for 16 weeks during the warmer months in Terms 4 and 1. We take children from age 8 and up, and all children must be able to swim or paddle across the width of the pool unaided (10 metres). But places are limited, and the timetable needs to be set to meet swim level demand, which is why we are seeking interest in enrolling before inviting you to register.

Additionally, new compliance measures and Covid-19 levels are forcing us to make some changes from this season, so please read these communications thoroughly.

Enrol your interest
Season and registration dates and the timetable are still being finalised, but note that this season our entry level lessons (Eels) will be starting in Term 1 of 2021. All other levels will commence in Term 4 as normal. We hope to email all applications details on fees, season dates, and programme by 9 October.

To get the most out of the season and help improve your child/children’s swimming technique, club swimmers will be expected to attend lessons twice a week. Those who can commit to attending all their lessons during the season will be prioritised.
